Making tracks with Cat Rental

When the Australian Supercross needed to move 3,500 tonnes of dirt inside the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Hastings Deering Cat Rental team stepped up to the challenge.

Organized by Troy Bayliss Events, the Hastings Deering Cat Rental team sponsored Round One of the Australian Supercross Championships by supplying the equipment to build the indoor Supercross Track.

With only 2 days to construct the track, Josh Proctor from Protraxx knows that the right combination of reliable equipment is critical to having the tracks safely constructed in time.

The track for Round One of the championships took 17 hours to lay out on the Thursday, 6 hours to perfect on Friday night, included 3,500 tonnes of dirt, a 2.5-metre-high jump, and 2 rhythm lanes.

Quality execution of the track and tight deadlines required the Hastings Deering rental team to source the best equipment to match the application and ensure the highest productivity.

Working with Protraxx and Troy Bayliss Events, Ben Gierke tailored a rental solution to meet the unique requirements of the build inside the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

“We sent 6 machines out to the Protraxx team. A combination of 2x 315 Excavators, 2x 279 Skid Steer Loaders and a 962 Wheel loader for the build, an additional 323F Excavator for the clean up.” Said Ben Gierke, Rental Account Representative for Hastings Deering.

“We really considered the type of machines that would suit this application, the 279’s were chosen for their compact size, power and lower ground pressure, ideal for preparing tracks.”

“With a smaller venue & track build the 315 is ideally suited to the restrictions in the venue with their compact radius, “said Mr Gierke.
